Reflection and manifesting change for the new year.. Take time to review the past year and think about what you would like to have happen as we move on to a new year and decade.
Write down one thing you can do each month to get there. No pressure. Baby steps may take longer, but they still get you where you want to go - if you keep walking. Wishing all a safe and happy New Year's Eve! - Monika

![]() Happy National Poinsettia Day! On December 12, 2002 The House of Representitives created National Poinsettia Day in honor of the founder of the America's poinsettia industry, Paul Ecke and Joel Roberts Poinsett, who was a botanist and the first ambassador to Mexico. In 1828 Pointsett sent cuttings of the plant to his home in Charleston, SC.. Early botanists considered it a weed but not Mr. Poinsett who loved the star shaped flower. This day marks the date of his passing and pays tribute to the spectacular red, sometimes white, flower. Poinsettias have been around forever. The Aztec King Montezuma believed the sap from the plant reduced fevers. He had caravans of the flowers brought to his kingdom which is now modern Mexico City. Spanish botanists were writing about the red flower in the 1600's. ![]() The most popular poinsettia color is red, but there are over 100 varieties. Gold Rush and Christmas Beauty Marble are the latest new colors. The Poinsettia is the number one best selling potted plant in the US. There really are so many fun and interesting ways to celebrate National Poinsettia Day. Visit a local botanical garden. There are spectacular varieties at the botanical garden or arboretum that are not normally seen in an average store. The displays of poinsettias are showstoppers. Grab a bench and enjoy. After you have been inspired go to your nearest store. Most stores sell Poinsettias at the holidays. Grab a few and start or add to your holiday decorating. The beauty of a bunch of red or white flowers in the middle of a table is enough to get us dreaming of candy canes and hot chocolate. Cue the holiday tunes. If you're having a holiday party make a Poinsettia Punch. Poinsettia Punch 14 oz cranberry juice 20 oz gingerale dash of lemon juice However you enjoy National Poinsettia Day is up to you. But bring a little botanical cheerfulness into your day. CELEBRATE!!! Celebrate Life. Celebrate Love. Celebrate The Holidays. Celebrate December. December Blessings The Holiday Chicks - Monika ![]() Saint Nicholas Day is observed by Christians in western countries on December 6, and on December 19 in eastern countries following the Julian ("Old") calendar.
