![]() "Beware the Ides of March,"is a line in Shakespeare's play, Julius Caesar. It is said by a soothsayer to warn Caesar of his impending betrayal and death. The ides meant the middle of the month in the ancient Roman calendar. It fell on the 15th in March, May, July, and October. The ides fell on the 13th in the remaining months of the year. Throughout history, there have been enough occurrences on the 15th of March to give this month's Ides a reputation of being an omen of bad luck. - Barbara |
